Emmanuel Eboue – I wanted to kill myself

The Ivorian and former Arsenal defender has opened up about his struggle to cope with his suspension from football.

Eboue is currently serving a one-year ban from all football activity after failing to pay money owed to a former agent. And although attempts to settle the matter have been made, Eboue fears he will not play again.

The 33-year-old revealed that the deaths of his brother N’Dri Serge and his grandfather left him at rock-bottom. “This is the lowest I’ve been in my career. It’s a bad time. There are a lot of days when I don’t feel like getting out of bed. He added, [perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“one day, I wanted to kill myself. My family kept me strong.”[/perfectpullquote]

Eboue hopes that his friends Didier Drogba and Kolo Toure will call him and offer their support. “All of them are my big brothers but I hope one day they will call me. I thought friendship was stronger. You have to be friends in difficult times. But that’s life. I take it in a good way,” he told the Telegraph.
