Aubameyang Dropped from Dortmund’s Squad to Face Stuttgart for “Disciplinary Reasons”

Borussia Dortmund has suspended top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the squad traveling to Stuttgart over “disciplinary reasons”.

The club announced the news on Thursday after posting a video of the players preparing for the Friday evening game. One fan questioned the club’s official twitter why Aubameyang wasn’t part of the traveling team and they responded saying he was suspended for “disciplinary reasons”.

A statement on Twitter read: “Aubameyang has been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match for disciplinary reasons.”

The club didn’t give any further details about the suspension but this is a bold move from a side that has been struggling to find wins recently. After starting the season on an unbeaten streak, Borrusia Dortmund have just won one out of seven and this may be their way of them shaking up the team.

This is not the first time Aubameyang has faced the knife at Borussia. He was suspended last November for what then-manager Thomas Tuchel described as an “internal issue,” but came back a rejuvenated man. Aubameyang hasn’t scored since October 14th and maybe this is what he needs to find his form.

Dortmund is traveling to Stuttgart today as they look for their first Bundesliga win since the 2-1 victory at Augsburg on Sept. 30.
